Qualcomm and Google have announced new Android-based PCs. These devices were unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 event. The new PCs are taking a different path from existing Chromebooks. They come with the Android operating system, Gemini AI integration, and next-generation Snapdragon hardware.
Qualcomm to develop Android-based PCs
According to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano R. Amon, Android PCs stand out with their extensive app support, advanced connectivity, and native AI processing. The company stated that these devices offer long battery life and high-performance AI capabilities.
Like the Copilot+ PCs released last year, Snapdragon-based Android PCs are also seen as distinguishing features such as portability and AI acceleration. Prototypes of these devices, currently in development, are expected to be tested shortly.
The launch of Android PCs is reshaping the position of ARM-based laptops. Given the competition created by Apple’s M-series processors, the outcome of Qualcomm’s partnership with Google is a matter of curiosity.
This partnership creates a new hybrid experience for users, specifically by seamlessly integrating mobile apps into the desktop experience. It also opens up a new market for developers, bringing the Android ecosystem’s range of apps to larger-screen devices for more productive and business-focused use.
